This is a full-time, remote position anywhere in the contiguous United States, with national travel expected up to 50%.

What You’ll Do:

The Associate Director, Custom Strategy Consulting specifically supports the design and delivery of specialized consulting projects, with an intentional focus on high-priority learning strands like AI and role clarity. The Associate Director primarily focuses on designing and delivering innovative consulting services outside of the organization’s core offerings. This role plays a critical part in our strategic innovation and learning efforts. This role involves applying broad expertise to shape programs, processes, and strategies to strengthen team expertise and deliver measurable outcomes for our partners.


Responsibilities:

Consulting Partner Delivery

  • Leads increasingly complex projects and ensures outcomes by designing and delivering user-centered, content-specific, and simple solutions to challenges outside of Instruction Partners’ core services
  • Facilitates sessions and processes focused on instructional improvement that support partner learning, decision-making, and implementation 
  • Builds and maintains strong, trust-based relationships with external partners throughout the engagement
  • Serves as a strategic advisor and thought partner to external leaders and teams
  • Leads the design and development of frameworks, service delivery protocols, and tools to drive system-level strategy and support 
  • Assesses complex issues, weighs alternatives, and drives execution that delivers measurable outcomes by ensuring excellence in the timeliness and quality of all partner deliverables
  • Represents the organization with professionalism and empathy in external meetings, presentations, and events
  • Applies knowledge to shape programs, processes, or strategies; provides guidance to strengthen team expertise by supporting the codification of learnings from projects to share across the organization and inform ongoing development and learning
  • Communicates clearly and is able to adapt to the audience; anticipates and prevents misunderstandings when working with diverse internal and external stakeholders

New Service Line Development

  • Navigates change with openness; models continuous improvement by collaborating with the custom consulting leadership team to research, design, and test new service areas aligned to organizational learning priorities
  • Integrates multiple frameworks and builds upon them to contribute insights and ideas that expand our ability to meet evolving partnership needs
  • Supports internal knowledge-sharing and resource development to scale best practices
  • Monitors project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure high-quality execution

Candidate Qualifications and Traits:

  • 7+ years of experience in K-12 education, instructional leadership, organizational leadership, or consulting
  • Leads complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives to clear, measurable outcomes
    Expertly guides high-stakes, multi-partner projects by aligning diverse stakeholders around shared goals, diagnosing root challenges, and driving coordinated action that results in meaningful improvements in teaching and learning
  • Applies deep expertise in instructional improvement and system-level HQIM implementation
    Brings advanced knowledge of ELA and/or math instructional practices and the conditions required for system-level implementation of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM), supporting partners to translate research-based strategies into practical, scalable action
  • Facilitates high-impact learning and decision-making processes
    Uses strong facilitation skills to convey complex information with clarity, build shared understanding, and lead cross-functional groups through strategic planning, change management, and instructional improvement processes
  • Designs innovative, user-centered solutions that strengthen systems and practice
    Utilizes design thinking and other user-centered approaches to create, test, and refine frameworks, tools, and professional learning experiences that address emerging partner needs; particularly in new or evolving service areas such as AI-enabled instruction
  • Executes exceptional project management to deliver high-quality work at scale
    Maintains rigorous project management systems and exceptional attention to detail to prioritize, sequence, and oversee multiple complex projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables, timely execution, and partner satisfaction
  • Models adaptive expertise, continuous learning, and strategic agility
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset and high comfort with ambiguity by rapidly adapting strategies, integrating new learning, anticipating risks, and navigating dynamic environments to meet deadlines and deliver excellence in a fast-paced context

Compensation:
