Executive Director, Solutions Implementation
This is a full-time, remote position anywhere in the contiguous United States, with national travel expected up to 50%.
What You’ll Do
The education field is at an inflection point as AI-powered instructional tools proliferate faster than the evidence base guiding their adoption. Effective support requires deep engagement with specific products, design intent, and school contexts. The Executive Director of Solutions Implementation sets the vision and priorities for solutions implementation across multiple partnerships, designing rapid-cycle research architecture, continuous improvement mechanisms, and scalable service models that improve teacher and student experiences and outcomes. Leading through innovation and change, this role oversees the strategic buildout of the function, drives enterprise-level strategy, manages high-impact partnerships, and mentors a growing team to translate classroom learning into actionable insights for the broader field.
Responsibilities:
Visionary Strategy, Research, and Solutions Design
- Sets the vision and priorities for research architecture and rapid-cycle learning systems to ground implementation work in classroom feedback loops and evidence
- Drives enterprise strategy and implementation frameworks across broad audiences, building buy-in and organizational alignment
- Navigates complex change with resilience while modeling curiosity, continuous learning, and rapid-cycle improvement methodologies
- Communicates vision and strategic priorities with clarity to shape field-wide narratives through externally published frameworks and articles
- Evaluates complex, cross-functional challenges with a systems lens, balancing risk and opportunity to deliver sustainable impact and data-driven decisions
- Leads solution implementation partnerships with school systems and product developers to test, refine, and deliver high-quality services
- Influences policy and external partnerships by building high-trust, high-stakes relationships with school system leaders and product developers
- Designs and delivers tiered service models and regional networks that expand partner engagement and drive scalable adoption
- Establishes systems for data-driven accountability to feed classroom insights back into product design and organizational strategy
- Drives adoption of new approaches and technologies by representing the organization nationally to share evidence and insights
- Embodies and elevates organizational values, fostering culture, consistency, and psychological safety across all partnership practices
- Sets divisional priorities aligned to organizational strategy, ensuring talent and resources align to the long-term vision
- Mentors and develops leaders across the division, preparing staff for greater responsibility while directly modeling implementation work in school contexts
- Models team effectiveness and builds systems that embed accountability across the division
- Inspires and guides the team toward a shared vision, translating complex strategy into actionable routines
- Uses data and insights to monitor progress, enforce rigorous evidence standards, and ensure sustained impact across all implementation initiatives
Candidate Qualifications and Traits:
- 12+ years of experience in education, with a significant tenure as a senior instructional leader focused on instructional improvement implementation within an education nonprofit, regional intermediary, or school system
- Implementation Framework Mastery: Deep expertise in designing, launching, and refining service models or implementation frameworks that have demonstrated success in complex school and district contexts and the ability to translate that expertise into transferable, learnable frameworks for the broader field
- Practitioner-Researcher Identity: Comfort operating across the research-practice continuum: fluent in implementation science and the existing evidence base, skilled at rapid-cycle learning and improvement, and clear-eyed about when to pursue deeper research versus move with what’s known
- Strategic Team Management: Proven ability to recruit, develop, and lead senior-level staff and high-performing teams within fast-moving or ambiguous organizational environments and an active commitment to staying close to the work alongside the team
- Stakeholder Influence and Relationship Management: Exceptional skill in building high-stakes partnerships and earning the trust of diverse stakeholders, including district executives and product development leadership
