This is a full time position located from a remote office anywhere in the country with a requirement of up to 25% national travel in accordance with public health guidelines.

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the director of content marketing, the content marketing lead plays a key role in creating, compelling content across multiple platforms and channels. They also provide essential copyediting and proofreading support for the marketing and communications team as well as other teams across the organization. The content marketing lead supports our content marketing strategy, contributes to sales enablement, and helps ensure consistency of brand and voice externally and  internally. This is a collaborative role that reports to the director of content marketing but also works very closely with the communications manager and the senior director of marketing and communications.

The content marketing lead is a versatile writer and competent copyeditor with 5+ years of experience creating engaging written content for a variety of audiences, ideally within the K–12 education and/or nonprofit space. Drawn to our vision and mission, the content marketing lead is passionate about K–12 education (and en/em dashes). They understand the importance of content for thought leadership, brand awareness, lead generation and nurturing, and sales. They have experience with email campaigns and with SEO and can create optimized content. The content marketing lead is also comfortable digging into marketing data. The content marketing lead is naturally curious, solutions-oriented, organized, and flexible.

Responsibilities:

Note that the time allocations below are estimates and are expected to change with shifting priorities throughout the year.
 

  • Content creation (~40%)
    • Create compelling, high-quality content across multiple formats, including blog posts, case studies, email campaigns, newsletters, video scripts, etc.
    • Support in the development and execution of webinars/roundtables and subsequent content 
    • Support keyword strategy and develop SEO-optimized content to enhance organic and paid search campaigns
    • Identify stories of impact from across the organization and create compelling narratives that showcase our impact with partners and our thought leadership
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts across the organization to translate complex concepts into accessible, engaging content
    • Maintain content calendar and coordinate publishing schedules
    • Analyze content performance metrics to inform and refine content strategy
    • Support focus-group planning and execution, including capturing insights and translating findings to inform content strategy, key messaging, etc. 
 
  • Social media management (~10%)
    • Develop, create, and schedule engaging social content that supports our thought leadership
    • Maintain content calendars and posting schedules
    • Monitor engagement metrics and support social media strategy
 
  • Sales enablement support / lead generation and nurturing (~20%)
    • Assist in developing national sales collateral, including one-pagers, pitch decks, and case studies
    • Write and edit email sequences and materials for customer journey flows
    • Collaborate with the regional marketing lead on content development and sales materials
 
  • Copyediting, quality control, and cross-functional support (~30%)
    • Provide copyediting and proofreading support across marketing and communications deliverables 
    • Serve as primary point of contact for fulfilling content support and editing requests from across the organization 
    • Review, copyedit/proofread, and refine materials (e.g., decks, partner-facing materials, published tools and resources, funder-facing materials, internal communications) to ensure alignment and consistency of messaging, tone, and branding
    • Collaborate with marketing design strategist to ensure all materials adhere to brand guidelines and visual standards
    • Support in the creation of annual reports

Required Candidate Qualifications:
 

  • 5+ years of experience in content marketing or communications
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and presentation skills with proven ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences
  • Ability to distill complex topics into compelling and persuasive content that resonates with key audiences
  • Strong copyediting abilities with meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience creating and managing social media content
  • Experience creating content for organizations within the K–12 education and/or nonprofit space
  • Deep understanding of inbound marketing and the importance of content that attracts, engages, and delights key audiences

Preferred Qualifications and Traits:

  • Experience with SEO (Search Engine Optimization) best practices and content optimization
  • Working knowledge of Hubspot or similar marketing automation platforms
  • Not required, but if you have some graphic design experience, that’s a bonus for us. 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage complex projects, juggle multiple priorities, and meet tight and often shifting deadlines
  • Collaborative team player with experience working cross functionally to achieve shared objectives
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and can manage and work through ambiguity
  • Passionate about education and improving experiences and outcomes for all students

Compensation:
