Senior Director, Internal Learning and Development
This is a full time position located from a remote office anywhere in the country with a requirement of up to 50% national travel in accordance with public health guidelines.

The Senior Director of Internal Learning and Development is a strategic, systems-oriented leader responsible for strengthening the capabilities of staff across the organization. This role leads the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of internal learning systems, with a particular focus on developing shared capabilities and leadership excellence.
In this role, you will craft and execute a comprehensive internal learning strategy that equips team members at all levels with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to thrive. The Senior Director will work in close partnership with the Senior Director of Internal Learning and Culture to offer both technical and adaptive support to managers and organizational leaders. This includes embedding internal learning into team practices and reinforcing cultural alignment. Success in this role requires exceptional facilitation and design skills, strategic insight, and the strategic relationship management skills to build trust, influence outcomes, and align stakeholders across the organization. This role is ideal for a dynamic educational professional with exceptional design and facilitation skills and a deep understanding of adult learning principles.
This position reports to the Executive Director, People and Culture and plays a pivotal role in shaping a culture of continuous learning, growth, and development.
Responsibilities:
Internal Learning Strategy and Leadership
- Develop and lead the vision for a cohesive internal learning and development strategy aligned with organizational goals and values
- Build and manage a long-term learning arc that supports internal learning and development across all levels and functions, with an emphasis on leadership development
- Manage and collaborate with staff responsible for maintaining learning systems and generating scalable, high-quality learning resources
- Use both qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate the impact of learning initiatives and continuously improve systems and content
Learning Design and Facilitation
- Design and deliver high-impact learning experiences using a mix of formats—live workshops, asynchronous content, peer learning, and just-in-time resources
- Apply best practices in adult learning theory, instructional design, and equity-centered facilitation to ensure relevance, inclusivity, and engagement
- Develop right-sized interventions that respond directly to team needs while maintaining strategic alignment
Managerial and Leadership Development
- Define and lead a comprehensive development pathway for managers, from onboarding to ongoing capability building
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, helping them embed learning into team routines and address leadership challenges with empathy and skill
- Facilitate complex, courageous conversations across levels to reinforce a culture of accountability, growth, and feedback
Systems Implementation and Management
- Oversee the tools, platforms, and governance structures that support internal learning across the organization, ensuring accessibility and alignment
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external providers to deliver high-quality, customized learning experiences
- Integrate learning systems with performance management and broader talent strategies
Culture and Cross-Functional Partnership
- Build deep relationships across teams to co-design development solutions responsive to evolving organizational needs
- Promote a learning-centered culture grounded in performance capabilities, reflection, and feedback
- Champion inclusion across all learning touchpoints, ensuring every employee feels seen, supported, and valued
Candidate Qualifications and Traits:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in learning and development, talent management, or organizational effectiveness, with 5+ years in a leadership role
- Proven ability to design and implement scalable learning systems that lead to measurable growth and behavioral change
- Deep expertise in adult learning, coaching, instructional design, and competency frameworks
- Experience creating and delivering leadership development, performance coaching, and manager enablement programs
- Strong facilitation skills and experience navigating sensitive interpersonal dynamics with confidence, diplomacy, and clarity
- Proven experience leading and managing high-performing teams, with a track record of driving engagement, accountability, and results
- Familiarity with tools and philosophies like radical candor, feedback cultures, courageous conversations, and equity-centered design
- Demonstrated success influencing stakeholders at all levels and aligning cross-functional teams around shared goals
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and inspire individuals at all levels

Compensation:
