Content Lead, K-2 Early Literacy Content Design

This is a full-time position located from a remote office anywhere in the country with significant national travel in accordance with public health guidelines.
What You'll Do:
Our Content Design Leads support the design and testing of solutions to address the unique learning and literacy needs of K-2 students and the needs of teachers, and school and system leaders. You’ll report to the Director of Early Literacy and work closely with the Director of Instructional Support, the Early Literacy Content Lead (Delivery), and the Director of Multilingual Support to design professional learning, translate research and action-based practices into design, support testing and continuous improvement, support internal learning and capacity building, and codify emerging best practices across partner work. During the 2021-22 school year, we will provide much of this support for partners in person and virtually as schools mandate. Our support also includes conducting virtual observations and reviews of student work to understand the current state of instruction, and designing and delivering virtual professional learning experiences.
As a successful Content Design Lead, you are a detail-oriented educator with a strong background in K-2 early literacy and the science of reading, ELA, English language development and supporting multilingual learners, and instructional coaching in grades K-3, with successful experience developing and facilitating impactful adult learning experiences. You are passionate about improving instructional effectiveness and believe in the potential of students, teachers, and systems. You will be on our Program Pilots Team, which supports schools throughout the country, and will report to the Director of Early Literacy. Specifically, you will:
•Conduct reviews and create reports on quality of assessments, curricula, pacing guides, scope and sequence guides, and other materials to inform system strategy for instructional improvement
•Assist with the build-out of early literacy systems and early literacy resources for systems
•Work with partners’ early literacy teams to support their instructional improvement cycle, including school visits, classroom observations, professional development, and content support
•Accompany Directors of Instructional Support, Early Literacy, and Multilingual Support on select school walkthroughs, use the Instructional Practices Guide (IPG) to observe and score Early Literacy instruction, and give feedback on trends to system leaders, school leaders and teachers
Content Development and Delivery
•Develop content specific to early literacy, such as model lessons, content exercises, and training session materials and PowerPoints
•Support internal team members with their internalization of the materials and preparation to deliver professional learning
•Support development of curriculum-specific transition and implementation plans and resources
•Prepare materials for and lead the early literacy portions of professional learning opportunities for the Instruction Partners team
•Prepare materials for and lead sessions during topical meetings, quarterly network meetings, and other events as needed
Required Candidate Qualifications:
•3+ years of experience as a K-2 ELA teacher and 2+ years as an K-2 administrator or instructional coach, with a record of success achieving clearly-defined outcomes and improving student learning, including for multilingual learners (English Learners)
Candidate Qualifications and Traits:
•Commitment to excellent daily instruction for all students
•Deep knowledge of ELA content and pedagogy in grades K-12 particularly in grades K-2 and early literacy
•Deep understanding of ELA standards, assessments, and instructional implications
•Deep knowledge of best instructional practices for supporting Multilingual Learners
•Successful experience designing professional learning, tools, and resources with a user-centered design approach; familiarity with liberatory design a plus
•Detail oriented, organized, and excellent attention to execution and follow through
•Very strong oral and written communication skills
•Experience building positive relationships with diverse team members and stakeholders
•Experience with mid and large school systems a plus, but not required
•Able to travel 2-3 times per month to schools across the country
•Travel may include early morning departures and/or overnight stays. A flexible Monday through Friday schedule is required. Instruction Partners covers all travel expenses

The starting salary range for this role is $59,000-89,000, depending on experience. Detailed information about the organizational compensation philosophy is available upon application.
